What date is my payment due each month?

The same day of the month you rented the instrument, as listed on your contract. For example, if you rented on the 25th, your payment is due ON OR BEFORE the 25th of each month, including the summer months. Payment due dates cannot be changed. You can pay a month or more ahead. Over-payments are refunded when the instrument is returned.

What if I use a bank bill-paying service?

Set it up for a minimum of seven (7) days before your due date. This is time required by most banks for the payment to reach the office. Payments need to reach us ON or BEFORE your due date to avoid the late fee.

Will I receive a monthly rental bill?

No. Payments are made with the payment coupons provided. Send the corresponding month’s coupon with your payment. The last coupon in the set will “flag” us to send you a new set of coupons, so be sure to send it in.

What if the payment coupons don’t arrive before my payment is due, or I misplace them?

Be sure to send your payment anyway. If you know your account number you can include that with the payment, or we can find your account by last name or telephone number. Call, or include a note with your payment, and we will send replacement coupons. There is never a charge for coupons.

How can I avoid having to pay a $5.00 late fee?

Each payment needs to be received on or before its due date in order to avoid owing the late fee for that due date. If an account is delinquent, payments are always applied to the oldest payment owing first.

  • Be sure your payment arrives each month ON or BEFORE YOUR DUE DATE. Payments can be mailed to: Mills Music, PO Box 2125, Bothell, WA 98041-2125. Allow four to five days for mail delivery.
  • Payments can also be dropped off at any of our Mills Music Store Locations.
  • Bankcard payments can be taken over the phone by contacting your local Mills Music. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
  • Make one double payment, then make a single payment each month. Your account will stay ahead one month. That additional payment is fully refundable if you decide to return the instrument.

It is best to contact or visit the Mills Music Store where you rented your instrument. Store hours vary slightly per location. To see your Mills Music store hours and information, please visit our Mills Music Store Locations page.

What happens if my child decides to quit playing?

Be sure that you return the instrument ON or BEFORE the next due date to avoid paying for another full month’s rent. Rent is month to month and is not pro-rated. The first three months are non-refundable per your contract. All outstanding back rent and late fees are due at the time of return. Returning the instrument cancels all rent credit you have accumulated. If your student plans to play again in the fall, it would be best to keep the instrument and continue paying the rent during the summer. Rent credit is non-transferable.

What is “rent credit”?

During the rental period 100% of your rental payments, less the instrument protection plan service fee and tax, may be used toward the purchase payoff of the originally rented instrument. This is called “rent credit”. You can contact the office or your local Mills Music store manager to get exact figures. Rent credit is instrument specific and non-transferable; it can only be used to purchase the contract instrument, at the contract price, or toward the purchase of a step-up intermediate or professional version of the same instrument. Terms do vary on some contracts, and we do offer early payoff purchase discounts on a case by case basis, so always check with us if you have questions.
